Xiaofei Tian is Professor of Chinese Literature at Harvard University. She is the author of Tao Yuanming and Manuscript Culture: The Record of a Dusty Table (2005), Beacon Fire and Shooting Star: The Literary Culture of the Liang (502-557) (2007), Visionary Journeys: Travel Writings from Early Medieval and Nineteenth-century China (2011), and The Halberd at Red Cliff: Jian'an and the Three Kingdoms (2018). She is currently working on a book manuscript entitled Writing Empire and Self: Cultural Transformation in Early Medieval China, and a book project on slaves and things in the Tang dynasty.
